Be part of our epic new indie sci-fi movie!

Hi, I’m Simon Cox and I truly love classic sci-fi! It all started when I saw the original Star Wars - after that, nothing was the same. My life goal now is to make sci-fi movies that touch, move and inspire people in (hopefully), the same way I was moved by the work of George Lucas, back in 1978.

I am now the writer and director of two thrilling new British indie sci-fi movies, Of Infinite Worlds (Parts 1 & 2). These are super ambitious, spectacular and enjoyable films which I've spent the last 3 years developing and which we are currently shooting here, in the Midlands (UK). We aim to release both movies in cinemas and on digital and DVD across the world.

And how are we going to do this? Well, I did it once before, with our previous movie, Invasion Planet Earth - which got a UK theatrical release in 2019 and has since gone on to sell all over the world. And, Of Infinite Worlds, is going to be EVEN bigger!

So how can you get involved…?

These are truly independent movies - in other words, we have no big corporation backing us (Netflix, Disney etc). So, we are reliant on private investment and from the support of the people who love independent films. If this is you, do take a look at our SHOP and pick up some of our merchandise. All the money we make goes directly into funding the film. If you fancy playing a bigger part and perhaps becoming an investor, please do drop me a line: simon-alphastar@hotmail.co.uk

In return for supporting us, you'll get regular updates on our progress and news of any crowd scenes we're shooting and when we require folk to play extras. You'll get exclusive photos and videos from the set and invites to test screenings and premiere screenings etc. In real terms, your direct support will help to pay for the cast and crew working on these films.

You'll be a physical part of the adventure - and more than anything, you'll be on the journey with us, the highs, the lows and all the fun. And who know, it may even become a hit!

Meet Our Cast - So Far

Filming - How Are We doing...?
As I learnt from my last movie, Invasion Planet Earth, making an epic sci-fi movie on a low budget is no mean feat. We shot that film in chunks, raising money as we went along. In all it took around 9 years to complete. I'm hoping these new films will be made a little differently…

The majority of, Of Infinite Worlds, is set in space. We plan on building our spaceship sets in one hit, over the next few months. Then, we will bring in the cast and film them, moving from set to set (revamping each set in-between).

As I write this, we have shot around 35% of the first film and have built our first set. Currently, we do not have a premises to leave the set up in, so its now in a storage unit. We are talking to the local council to see if we can borrow one of the many buildings sitting empty that the council own. Once we have secured something that suits our needs (and our budget) we will move in and continue on with the building and filming.

There will be some part-sets too, with areas of green screen for some of the more complicated set ups. Below are some of our set designs – Massive thanks to Benn Robinson for creating these.

Below are some behind the behind-the-scenes shots of the first set we built back in June 2022. This was revamped three times to appear at three separate spaceship cockpits

Space Ships - Keeping it Old-School!
During lockdown, we were able to do a lot of our special FX’s work and already have a fair number of shots in the can.
I was keen to have real models created for the ships and combine them with the latest CGI technologies. So, we have engaged top
model maker, Richard Dixon, to build the ships.

Initially, we filmed the first of our models on a motion control rig on a large bluescreen. This worked well, but we also discovered that if we have the ships scanned and turned into 3d computer models, we get a lot more flexibility and can create fantastic shots a lot quicker. We’re now combining old school FX’s with the game engine software, Unreal Engine, which quite honestly, has blown my mind.

Below are some images of the Montana, which is one of Richard’s models, that has now been scanned and flown in Unreal Engine.

I’m so excited about our little sci-fi movies. This is the type of sci-fi I’ve always loved and if you like, (the original) Star Wars, (the original) BattleStar Galactica and Buck Rogers etc, you’ll absolutely LOVE, Of Infinite Worlds!
