Enter: The Saratoga

The Saratoga is a sort of, space tractor that features in, Of Infinite Worlds - Part 2. A sort of, work-horse, designed for carrying and fixing things. The original model (seen below) was designed and built by wonderful model maker, Richard Dixon.

As with the other ships in the film, we have recently had the ship scanned and re-built into 3D so that we can fly and manipulate it in Unreal Engine. This was done by fabulous 3D artist Damian Berek This was a huge amount of work and was approached in various phases.

Damian did a little re-design work the base and included some landing gear as the ship needs to land on an alien planet. (See video below)

Once the initial model building was completed, Damian then added the textures to bring the model to life. This involved some very detailed and time consuming paint work.

The second film starts with some astronauts arriving on Europa, one of Jupiter's moons. The film is set around 2060 and I wanted to create an alternative space exploration company to NASA - and so the Expansion of Space Exploration (ESE) was born.

I had the logo created a few years ago and recently, Damian added it to the side of the Saratoga.

Finally, with the paint work done, Damian added lights and all the final touches and the ship was ready.

I now can't wait to start creating shots for the actual movie with this model and I am pleased to say that this is the last model, so all 7 ships are now scanned and ready to start work. We've entered a very exciting phase of the production.

As you may know, this is a fully independent film, so no Netflix or Amazon etc behind us. If you would like to be part of our epic journey and help get the film finished, you can start by buying one our souvenir mugs (click on the picture above) or by buying anything from our SHOP. All the profit we makes goes directly into funding the film. We'll also put you on the mailing list so you can keep up with where we are with these movies and how you can come and be an extra when we need people to be in the film.

Many thanks for all the encouragement and support.

Cheers and all the best.
